Civil engineering among the most popular majors at UME is concerned with the built environment in Cambodia today. It provides the students civil engineers plan, design, and construct major facilities including highways, transit systems, dams, tunnels, energy facilities, harbors, canals, buildings, and bridges. Civil engineering helps manage our air, water, and energy resources and help protect society from natural catastrophes, such as flood, as well as dealing with the hazards society itself generates in the form of toxic wastes


     
Who is it for?

This degree is for you if you:

• Wish to understand two alternative tracks, one focusing on structures and construction and the second focusing on environmental and water studies.
• This degree may suit you if you are interested in a career in management consultancy, banking, accountancy or general management.

• It will also be useful if you want to go on to pursue further training in  development and management of society's physical infrastructure.

Feature of the degree:

This degree provides an opportunity for critical and theoretical study, particularly in civil engineering. You will receive an intellectually demanding, broad preparation for management that draws on a wide range of engaging in the planning, design, construction and maintenance of buildings, bridges, dams, airports, highways, subways, transportation networks, energy resource development projects, offshore structures, canals, irrigation systems, subdivisions, harbors and water supply and waste treatment facilities.

• The degree will be relevant to your experiences and local environment, but will also give you a knowledge and understanding of a range of issues in mega-structures and mini-structures in the twentieth-first century.

• The aim of the range of units available is to look analytically and critically at general construction issues.
